Jessica Lichtenstein: Rewilding
Museum of Arts and Design, Columbus Circle 2, New York, Manhattan
About
Jessica Lichtenstein: Rewilding is an exhibition at the Museum of Arts and Design that transforms the museum's third-floor gallery into a lush, overgrown terrain where thousands of digitally rendered female nudes form forests, ruins, and flowering canopies. The artist, Jessica Lichtenstein, is a New York and Wyoming–based multidisciplinary artist working in installation, painting, sculpture, and video, and this is her first solo museum exhibition. Taking its title from the ecological concept of rewilding, the show uses it as a metaphor for liberty and release, reclaiming the female body from art history's erotic conventions within speculative landscapes shaped by autonomy and collectivity. Her technicolor, erotically charged works merge opulent materials with technological precision as feminist reimaginings of nature and the female form.
