About
A reading and conversation with Birgit Weyhe about her documentary graphic novel „Schweigen“. In it, she recalls two women of different generations: Ellen Marx, the only member of her Jewish family to survive Nazi persecution after emigrating from Berlin to Buenos Aires at seventeen, and Elisabeth Käsemann, who set out for Argentina against the backdrop of the student movement. The graphic novel repeatedly touches on local history and opens a narrative about the entanglements between Germany and Argentina, the Argentine military dictatorship, and the political failure connected with it. Based on in-depth research, it confronts the experiences of violence and the defiant remembrance in Argentine society.
