Hans Coppi jr.: „Annäherung an meine Eltern Hans und Hilde Coppi“

A book presentation with readings about Hans and Hilde Coppi, who were arrested in 1942 as members of a resistance network the Gestapo labelled the „Rote Kapelle“ and sentenced to death by the Reichskriegsgericht. Hilde Coppi gave birth to her son Hans at the Berlin women's prison Barnimstraße – the venue, where she was imprisoned – before both parents were executed in 1942/43. The son, Hans Coppi jr., never met his parents and has researched their work since the late 1980s; as he can no longer write biographies for health reasons, Dr. Geertje Andresen has edited a publication from his papers in agreement with him, which she presents on this evening. Historian Claudia von Gélieu speaks about Hilde Coppi on the prison's mother-and-child ward, and actress Ruth Reinecke reads from letters written from the death cells in 1942/43.
